This free seminar is designed to give Specifiers a better understanding of how to work and design subsurface heating and cooling.  Book a place on line here or email Jayne.blackborow@rehau.com telephone 0207 580 6155.

RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE WORKSHOP

What is the purpose of the Renewable Heat Incentive ?

The government says: "The objective of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is to increase significantly the proportion of heat that is generated from renewable sources and, by encouraging a switch from fossil fuels, contribute towards our wider carbon reduction goals. We recognise that one of the most significant barriers preventing take-up is the higher costs associated with renewable heating technologies, compared with fossil fuel equivalents. Even where an organisation wants to install a renewable heating source, often it is deemed too expensive. The RHI will compensate for this additional cost, which will help make renewable heating an option for all."

In the first phase, long-term tariff support is targeted in the non-domestic sectors, at the big heat users – the industrial, business and public sector – which contribute 38% of the UK's carbon emissions.  The First Phase of the RHI will apply to all non-domestic buildings.

OFGEM opened its website to applications for RHI on 28 November 2011.

The Renewable Heat Incentive has been introduced to incentivise the installation of ground source energy, and other renewable heating technologies like solar thermal collection, into buildings.

Which projects can benefit?
  • Can your project benefit from the RHI?
  • Which buildings does it apply to?
  • Which technologies attract RHI?
  • What are the rates?
  • How long does it last?
  • Are there advantages in integrating renewable technologies?
    • technically?
    • financially?

DISTRICT HEATING TECHNICAL BREAKFAST WORKSHOP
DHWEDNESDAY 26TH OCTOBER 8:00 A.M. TO 10:45 A.M.
CONFERENCE SUITE, THE BUILDING CENTRE, 26 STORE STREET, LONDON. WC1E 7BT

Presentations can be downloaded from REHAU site.

What is District Heating?

District heating is the use of a central boiler to provide heat to a number of buildings via a pre-insulated pipe network. In the UK it is rapidly growing in popularity as it is ideally linked with Renewable Energy sources, such as Biomass or Biogas. There are dramatic improvements in energy efficiency by producing heat on a local level and also maintenance benefits in having one single plant. This Seminar will give you an overview to the heat sources used, the pipe options and how to design a District Heating network.

Concrete Core Tempering

CCTThursday 23rd June REHAU are holding a breakfast seminar at the Building Centre 26 Store Street London WC1E 7BT on Concrete core tempering.  CCT is a popular method of heating and cooling buildings in mainland Europe which involves the using underfloor heating pipe buried deep within the structure of a building.  The benefits of such a system are the reduced flow temperature of heating or cooling system and therefore energy use.  The disadvantages are the need to expose large areas of concrete surface with no raised access flows and no suspended ceilings.  The M&E consultants King Shaw and architects Black be giving a presentation on the incorporation of such a heating system on the recent CAFOD projects.  Details of the program and how to book can be found on REHAU’s web site

REHAU have been in their offices in the Building Centre 26 Store Street London WC1E 7BT  for 5 years.  Help us celebrate with our 5 year party on Wednesday 11th May from 6.30 pm to 9.00pm details on REHAU’s website.

Wednesday 20th April a webinar on Geothermal Tunnel Linnings; heating and cooling tunnels. Webinars are a very good way of reaching new audiences.  I was very pleased with the one I gave today on Heating & cooling using tunnels as a ground source collector.  The seminar lasted about 30 minutes with a number of good questions.  The seminar is now available to watch as a recording click here

On Friday 15th April REHAU held a free breakfast seminar on underfllor heating a cooling at the Building Centre 26 Store Street London WC1E 7BT

Mike Moseley gave a presentation on the future of underfloo heating and cooling.  Roger Coote from Honeywell looked at intragrating underfloor heating controls and BMS systems and Tim Anders from Anders Heating gaves us some project details of good and poor practice when installing underfloor heating.  Copies of the oprsentations can be found on REHAU's web site
